Legion Mixed Reality Experience

The Legion Mixed Reality Experience is a fully immersive mixed reality experience—powered by Microsoft HoloLens—that brings FX’s critically acclaimed series, Legion, to life. Transport yourself into the headspace of David Haller, where you will interact with his world and test the boundaries of your own reality.

The MPC team and I were tasked with making a unique AR experience that gave you the super powers of David Haller of Legion fame. I had to create over 40 assets and visual effects using Maya, Substance, and Unity. Each asset had to have a custom shader to streamline all the necessary layers for running on a highly constrained mobile platform like the original Hololense. At times we had to push over 60 draw calls with live lighting to match the real world lighting active in the real world space. Many of the objects in the room needed to be fully skeletal as well as destructible to create an animated Telekinetic storm that made up the pieces climactic ending.
